Jesus; I AM he (Part 1)

Written By: Bro. J. Cotton

IN the Beginning

‘In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not. In him was life; and the life was the light of men. There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe. He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light. That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world. He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. He came unto his own, and his own received him not. But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. ‘
John 1:1-14

GREAT is the mystery

“And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.” 1 Timothy 3:16

The oneness of God and his identity were even a mystery in the time that Jesus walked the earth. It can be seen throughout the scriptures were those who followed Jesus did not all fully understand his true identity as the Almighty God; The Great I AM

Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father? John 14:9

THE oneness of God

The oneness of God is undisputable throughout the Bible, in both the Old and New Testament. There is not one mention of the word trinity (the state of being three), nor is a plurality of the nature of God ever expressed in the Bible. The “One True God” is all knowing, all seeing, all reaching, all encompassing and all powerful in his omnipresence and omnipotence. (See Jeremiah 23:24, 32:27) If this was not so he would not be God. In other words God does not need to be three separate natures, persons, or deities, he is the I AM; he is who he is. Man has tried to put God in a box of human logic and satan has used this to cripple our understanding of who he is. Just as a man can be a father, a son and a husband at the same time, he is still one man and signs his name the same for he has but one name. It is quite simple if we believe God’s Word, God is ONE.

“Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD:” Deuteronomy 6:4

‘Have we not all one father? hath not one God created us? why do we deal treacherously every man against his brother, by profaning the covenant of our fathers? ‘ Malachi 2:10

‘And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord:Mark 12:29

And the scribe said unto him, Well, Master, thou hast said the truth: for there is one God; and there is none other but he: Mark 12:32

‘Seeing it is one God, which shall justify the circumcision by faith, and uncircumcision through faith. ‘ Romans 3:30

‘But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him. ‘ 1 Corinthians 8:6

‘And immediately I was in the spirit: and, behold, a throne was set in heaven, and one sat on the throne. ‘ Revelation 4:2

One Lord, one faith, one baptism, One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.” Ephesians 4:5-6

“For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one.” 1 John 5:7-8

“Now a mediator is not a mediator of one, but God is one.” Galatians 3:20

‘For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;
1 Timothy 2:5

“And the LORD shall be king over all the earth: in that day shall there be one LORD, and his name one.” Zechariah 14:9

“Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.” James 2:19
